Pointer Lock is a W3C Recommendation

The Web Platform Working Group has published a W3C Recommendation of Pointer Lock. This specification defines an API that provides scripted access to raw mouse movement data while locking the target of mouse events to a single element and removing the cursor from view. This is an essential input mode for certain classes of applications, especially first person perspective 3D applications and 3D modeling software.

Call for Review: Pointer Lock Proposed Recommendation Published

The Web Platform Working Group has published a Proposed Recommendation of Pointer Lock. This specification defines an API that provides scripted access to raw mouse movement data while locking the target of mouse events to a single element and removing the cursor from view. This is an essential input mode for certain classes of applications, especially first person perspective 3D applications and 3D modeling software. Comments are welcome through 30 September.

First Public Working Draft: Pointer Events Level 2

The Pointer Events Working Group has published a Working Draft of Pointer Events – Level 2. The features in this specification extend or modify those found in PointerEvents, a W3C Recomendation that describes events and related interfaces for handling hardware agnostic pointer input from devices including a mouse, pen, touchscreen, etc. For compatibility with existing mouse based content, this specification also describes a mapping to fire DOM-LEVEL-3-EVENTS Mouse Events for other pointer device types.
